School Choir and Percussion Ensemble
The Eltham East Primary School Choir has for many years been acknowledged
as one of Australia's foremost children's choirs.
The Choir consists of children aged 8 - 12 years from years 4, 5 and 6 at Eltham East Primary School, under the direction of Anne Williams with accompanist Alexander Clayton. Its work is innovative and inspirational and includes music from around the world in many languages and styles. The Choir tours and performs regularly and has a wide reputation for beautiful tone and arresting performances.
The choir works collaboratively with local and international composers, including Nic Buc. Nic worked collaboratively with the EEPS students to compose our school song Purple and Gold. Student input was sourced for compositions reflecting our environmental and community building programs. This resulted in The Star of Eltham and Friendship songs which were premiered at the EEPS School Concert.
An opportunity exists for some students to join the Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Alexander Clayton. In 2015 under Alexander's direction the small ensemble earned first place at the Boroondara Eisteddfod. A wonderful achievement in their first year with Alexander!
To hear these young musicians perform is a delight.
