Dear families and friends of the EEPS community,

Thank you to the many families who came along to our Twilight Sports evening last Tuesday. A special thank you goes to Margot Welton for the mammoth effort that went into organising the fun filled events that we all enjoyed so much. Thank you to Ben Smith (Prep 9) and his family for donating the 10kg block of Cadbury chocolate and Cadbury hamper which were very popular prizes for the raffle. Our fundraising committee also did a fantastic job organising face painting, a sausage sizzle, a cake stall as well as the sale of glowstix, cold drinks and icy poles which led to just over $2,000 being raised. More importantly the EEPS community spirit was very evident and it was lovely to see so many families enjoying the evening together. (PS Someone left their cooler bag behind -
it is blue and labelled “Aussie Farmers Direct”. Come and collect it from the office.)

This Friday November 20th will be Lisa Hallam’s last official day at school and I know that you will join us in wishing her well as she leaves us to take on her new role as a mother. She is an exceptional teacher and I have no doubt Lisa will be a brilliant mother, a lucky little person is about to be delivered to wonderful parents who will nurture and cherish him or her. Please be assured that we will keep you posted with the news of an early arrival if it happens before the school holidays, otherwise we will let you know at the start of next term. We are delighted to announce that Gina Klapp will be the classroom teacher in prep 10 for the remainder of this year.  Then in 2010 Lisa Joseph will join our prep team, Lisa has both early childhood and primary qualifications, she currently works at Eltham Pre School and has had a professional association with EEPS for many years. Lisa knows many of our children and is really looking forward to being part of the EEPS community, as well as working with you and your children.

The EEPS girls’ volleyball team is now preparing for the state finals! The regional final was an exciting match full of suspense and our EEPS team was victorious after a very close and vigorous game on a very hot day. Please check Mrs Welton’s column for more news of when the state final is scheduled.

Learning and growing together.
